Happy New Year!!! 😊
Well it’s not “technically” the new year yet, but I did just have a birthday so for me it’s the start of a new year 👌🏼
Currently I’m struggling with NaNoWriMo and hitting my word count 😞 my day job has been super busy lately which means my writing has been delayed. (OMG!!! The agony!)
No seriously , the little voice in my head it’s driving me nuts. My mind is in over flow right now with all the notes and ideas I need to write out or dictate into my recorder.
I’m also getting close to being behind on a short story contest I’m in too …
I’m simply flunking November. 😶
I really wish someone would invent something that could simply read my thoughts and translate all of them into words. 👌🏼 and sell it at a decent, affordable price for us not-so-rich writers 😜
So today is day 5 of NaNoWriMo 2016!
Oh lord, keeping up with all this writing and my day job is rough. This week has definetly been a challenge for me, currently I’m 2,000 words behind what I should have by the end of the night to hit my day 5 mark.
I did hit my 5,000 word mark this morning though 😊
But, seriously. How do people manage this with a full time job and pet or children at home requiring their attention??
I know time isn’t so much the issue here, because you make time for what is important. For me I’m finding it’s more finding the energy and the right mind set to be able to sit down and type after being drained all day at work.
I’ve already accepted that my 50,000 words will not be perfect and will need a good, couple edits to be where I want it. But so far I feel all I have a series of incoherent babble.
My feelings lately have gone from super excited about my upcoming novel and short story contest to depressed and not sure what I’m doing with my life.
Seriously, I feel like staring blankly at nothing until something inside me sparks and tells me what I’m suppose to be doing.
I feel lost in translation.
As Jane Russell and Marilyn Monroe sang: “When love goes wrong, nothing goes right…”
My love for some of the things in my life is definitely not going right at the moment. It’s more so, taking a few side roads and a couple high mountains.
I’m sure things will work themselves out, as they so often do. But for now I simply feel lost and when you feel lost, your writing is lost without you.
As writers we pour our hearts and souls into the words we ink on the blank pages in front of us, But when our minds are cluttered how can we expect the heart and soul to find its way out?
Seriously , the amount of goobers in my head right now could stop a herd of wild horses from getting through! 🙈
Therefore, my writing is going no where!
Seriously, I need to find a new outlet for clearing my mind. My fitness and reading habits are just not cutting it lately.
I wish I could finish this ramble with some epic yoga pose, mantra or check list that helped me and could help my fellow writers with the same issues.
But I’m still figuring it out and being honest the whole way through.
Bella lounging per usual
Seems anytime I’m working I find her snoozing. Oh, to live the life of a dog sometimes 🙂
November is coming up so much quicker than I had expected, so many deadlines coming due soon and NaNoWriMo starts in just 11 days! I must say I’m beyond excited to participate this year, I’ve been tinkering with my next novel for some time now and I think nanowrimo is just the boost and writing frenzy I need to get it completed. 💻🙌🏼 if you’ll be joining in the fun be sure to let me know! I’d love to meet some fellow writers 😊 my username on NaNo is Jen_Onedge
Which means these next few days are all about planning and time managing. (In other words To-Do lists! 🤓😊)
Along with being part of National Novel Writing Month, I will be throwing my pen in with a fantasy Short story contest as well. Be sure to check it out and give it a go. As a writer you should always be up for critiques, contests are the best way to work your craft and better your skills.
My name is Bella De Ball, but you can call me Bella.
I am a pit bull puppy, born 5/17/16 (or there abouts) it’s hard for me to remember the exact date.
Honestly, I don’t remember too much about my family and life before I went to live in the big kennel with all the other dogs. When I arrived, there were many other dogs already living there-big ones, small ones and some older ones too.
And I made friends with them all!
While I stayed there, people would come in all the time to visit and play with us. And sometimes, if we behaved well, they would take one of us home. Everyone called that “Our Forever Home” because if you’re lucky, once someone picks you for their own, they keep you forever.
Many people visited me and the other dogs all the time, they took us out to play and sometimes they would even take pictures of us too. It seemed like everyday someone would get a new home, but then some days it just seemed like no one wanted us. Some dogs had been living there awhile and seemed almost discouraged that they wouldn’t find their Forever Home, but every time someone would walk in they would do their best to gain their attention and win their affections. Never giving up hope that they might be just what someone was looking for or what someone needed in their life.
On 8/1/16… I found my Forever Home and said goodbye to my friends at the big kennel.
Someone had come in and chose me. They chose me to take home and be their friend and watchful eye.
So now, I want to share my journey with you. My new home, all my friends and my life. So that maybe someday, you’ll be that person who makes another dog feel just as special as I did when I was carried to my new home in my new families arms. 💜
Seriously, I am finding it so difficult to focus on my writing and the tasks at hand lately. It’s time I sit back and regroup a little bit.
It also doesn’t help that my laptop is being on the fritz , literally every time I get into working on my website or papers it freezes or acts up/ shuts down 😔 ugh!
Think a new computer is in my future… hopefully 🙏🏼
In the mean time, good old fashioned pen and paper for me. I actually do most my first drafts on paper, then the first edit comes into play as I type it up on the computer. So whenever my computer bug takes a nap I’ll have many, many first edits to be done! 💻🤗
Planning to make the most out of today and bring a few projects to completion.

What a cute little face right?
Since I adopted this little cutie from our local shelter , I’ve been bouncing around ideas on how I can give back and help support all those lost and lonely pets looking for their forever homes. There are so many good pets just sitting around waiting to be adopted that no one even knows about! Or worse, they’re written off due to their breed , age or medical issues 😦
Just breaks my heart.
Hopefully my “Puppy Diary” posts, that I’ve been doing with my little Bella could help spread the word about how amazing it is to adopt a pet and help shed some light on all the ups and downs of owning a furry baby 🙂
Bella here was adopted with “No known medical issues”. She was roughly 2.5 months old. Taken into the shelter for protective care.
She was perky, happy and externally adorable! Yet upon my watchful eye it didn’t take me long to notice a few things about her. Like her bowed out elbow, which turned out to be a fracture or breakage that was left un-treated and healed on its own She also seemed to drink and urinate way more often than she should and the volume she produced wasn’t always normal. Well, that turned out to be crystals forming in her urine due to her not agreeing with the brand of food she was on
Then the little lovely showed us that the crystal problem diminishing ( Yeah!!) thanks to switching her to a better quality food and with that problem going away she decided a UTI was more to her style 👌🏼 🙂 ahh, the joys of parenthood right? Lol
Wonder what she’ll come up with next?
I wouldn’t change a thing though, the moment I saw this little girl and signed those papers, I agreed to take her on as my own and that included any and all of her little challenges. Which include vet visits and medications.
I sort of have a point to this ramble session, pretty sure I originally tried to be inspiring and insiteful with this post lol.
When you decide you want to take on another family member , don’t just think of all the fun reasons you want one. Think of all the reasons , pros and cons. Make a list and be extremely honest with it. And bare in mind you can’t read a book by its cover.
Bella and I are enjoying some well needed down time today 🙂
Working on my writing some as well, many pages to edit today and a few hundred words to get into the computer. The work week never ends for writers and those with creative minds. 🙂
I feel this is my second…or third attempt at WordPress, seems I can’t get the hang of daily blogging or weekly blogging for that matter.
But maybe this time around I’ll have a better go at it and be a little more prepared /informative 🙂
First of all: Boooooo. My real job is writing. It just doesn’t make me money … yet. Our real jobs are what makes us happy, and fills our souls. So we are all, (whether profitable or not) writers and writing is our job. But in all seriousness, this is one of the questions I get […]
